371 – Murderbot

Recent Emmy nominees Danielle McBride and Tyler Whitham join the podcast to discuss their roles as supervising sound editors on the sci-fi comedy Murderbot. Building the sonic world of a brand new sci-fi series is just about every sound person’s dream gig. What does a giant two headed monster centipede sound like? What about spaceships with futuristic propulsion systems? These are some of the puzzles that needed to be solved for Murderbot. Plus the dialog had creative challenges as well, with lots of interior dialog, robot processing and comms that each needed their own signature sounds.
