Coming up on July 6th, 2026, there will be a screening to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the mega blockbuster, Independence Day. After the film Tonebenders’ host Tim Muirhead will be conducting a in-person interview with 3 key members of the sound team about their work on this film. Supervising Sound Editor Val Kuklowsky, and Sound Effects Editor Mark Lanza will be flying in from California and they will be joined by home town legend, Foley Artist Andy Malcolm. Together they will recount the many sonic challenges this film presented and how they figured out how to overcome them.
After we wrap the interview we will all head to a post-screening afterparty, at Convivium. Complimentary bites and refreshments will be provided as we hang out, connect and continue the conversation with fellow film lovers.

Get ready for the third Tonebenders Toronto Sound Design meet-up! Coming up on Tuesday, December 3rd, at The Pilot (near Bay and Bloor). We have the main floor set aside for us to raise our glasses and share some laughs with stories of audio glory and defeat!? Although the title says “Sound Design”, this is a gathering for everyone working in sound for games, series, and films, including field recording, foley, dialog editing, runners, supervisors, implementation etc. So let’s represent the 416 and have a great time.

Our next Tonebenders Sound Design Meet-up will be in London, England on Tuesday, Sept 24th 2024. Starting at 7pm at the Queens Head Pub in Soho (15 Denman Street).
