235 – Gran Turismo

We dig into the sound of the sonically amazing race scenes in the Neill Blomkamp film, Gran Turismo. Re-recording Mixer Beau Borders and co-supervising sound editors Erin Oakley & Kami Asgar talk us through how they wanted the sound of the cars to feel like they are always from the POV of the drivers, so they felt hyper real. They also discuss how the story is being told through the race teams comms and headsets, how they earned the director’s trust and made him at least a little less scared of using ADR.

Inside 424 Post’s Hollywood Stage A during the interview. (L-R) Beau Borders, Kami Asgar, Erin Oakley & Timothy Muirhead (Tonebenders Host)
