193 – The Sound of The Beatles: Get Back

In this episode we talk to the sound team behind The Beatles documentary Get Back. The challenges they faced to get these decades old recordings into shape were immense, They were forced to develop their own software, with machine learning, to clean up the audio and the results are amazing. In addition to audio clean up, the project presented a multitude of other hurdles as well. Brent Burge (re-recording mixer & supervising sound editor), Emile de la Rey (machine learning engineer & sound editor), Martin Kwok (supervising sound editor) and Stephen Gallagher (music editor) take us through it all.

    When is the ML tool discussed in this podcast going to be made available? I could use this immediately.

    • I think if that happens it will be a ways down the road unfortunately. It is pretty spectacular though.
