152 – SFX CrowdSource Roundtable

We welcome Tim Nielsen and Kai Paquin to talk about organizing & participating in Crowd Sourced Sound Effects Libraries. They have both run successful Crowd Sourced libraries that went on to raise lots of money for charities once completed. We also talk about the Universal Category System initiative, that Tim and Kai are the brains behind, and how it has helped streamline metadata in crowdsourced libraries.

  1. Hi Tim and Rene, hope you’re both well. Just wanted to give a shout out to say, although the Sound Collectors’ Club has been inactive website-wise these past few years, the collection is still accessible for existing and new members. I’m planning to create much more content and activity again for the Club this year, so it was great to listen through to this podcast and learn about new practices, especially regarding metadata. I’ll definitely look into incorporating UCS into the Club contributions. Thanks for keeping Tonebenders going!
