141 – Ambient Isolation – Global Sound Project

A Screen Capture from www.ambientisolation.com showing where contributions have come from around the world.

During the time of global pandemic sound designer Al Sirkett created the Ambient Isolation project as something to do with his daughter. The project ballooned into a massive crowdsource, where recordists from around the world captured the sounds of a locked down world.

In Part 1 of this episode we talk with Al about the story of the project and how it came to be.

In Part 2 we’ve assembled a collage of contributions with short descriptions from some of the recordists that participated. This is a peaceful, meditative collage so allow yourself some space to take it in properly.

  1. This was (is, still listening or re-listening to the recordings) a terrific idea and I’m glad it was done. It is very thought-provoking, even sad. Thank you for doing it and for telling us about it on the podcast
