Let’s celebrate Star Wars Day by pushing forward a few of the Star Wars focused episodes from Tonebenders past.
One of our most popular episodes of all time was episode 153 – The Mandalorian with Bonnie Wild & Dave Acord. This is a really good conversation about Season 2 of The Mandalorian. We dig especially deep into “The Jedi” episode where Ashoka appears and there is a battle between her light sabre and an opponent using a spear that can not be cut by light sabres. The sound design in this episode is fantastic and was wonderful to talk about.
For 213 – Andor with David Acord & Margit Pfeiffer we had a full episode talking about the gritty sounds in Andor. This series took a bit of a different direction than typical Star Wars properties. Lots of interesting talk about changing the feel for Andor, but still keeping it part of the same larger universe.
Finally, here is a fun blog post about a magazine I found originally from 1984 called “Film Sound Today”. It has a great article about making the sounds for Return of the Jedi.
