Field Recording Story Submissions

Submission Window has Closed. Look out for the episode made from this in the new year. Thanks to all who submitted!

We want to hear your stories of memorable field recordings. It can be about a time you were able to capture a perfect sonic moment, or a when something really strange happened and created a sound completely unexpected. We want to hear about times strangers just couldn’t believe what you were trying to record, or a sound that means something super important to your life.

You can listen to some of Tonebenders’ host, Tim Muirhead’s field recording stories as examples of what we are looking for here:

If you have a sound and a good story behind it, please send it our way to include in an upcoming crowd sourced episode of field recording stories. There are a few ways to contribute.

  • Record yourself telling the story of a sound you recorded, please include the sound itself that you are describing. You can send your voice and the sound in separate files or create a single file that has both. Ideally with the recording playing underneath your story if possible.
  • Write out your story and one of The Tonebenders hosts will read it out on the podcast. Please also send in the sound your story describes.
  • If possible please record yourself saying your name, so we know how to pronounce it. This can be it’s own file or you can just pop it onto the end of your recording and we will cut it out when putting the episode together.

Use a file transfer service, Wetransfer is free and works great, to send the file(s) to [email protected] by Nov 19th, 2023. We will then create an episode out of all the submissions.

Please ensure that the field recording you are sending in is under your ownership. DO NOT send in a recording that was made by someone else, even if it does have a special meaning to you.
