293 – Wicked

Wicked has music that swings from massive orchestral pieces, to delicate underscore. There is sound design adding comedy, tension and fear. On top of all that, there is the singing, recorded live on set, that really brings out the emotions of the story. Production sound mixer Simon Hayes tells us how they captured the vocals on a busy set and supervising sound editors Nancy Nugent Title & John Marquis discuss building up the sounds to create the sonic world of Oz. Supervising music editor Jack Dolman, discusses how the music all came together from pre-records to the final edit. All that work, so re-recording mixers Andy Nelson and John Marquis could sculpt the mix to make this crowd pleasing epic operate at it’s peak.
