In this episode we are “re-broadcasting” an interview from the Sound Perspective Podcast with legendary Australian film director Peter Weir (Witness/Master & Commander/Truman Show/Dead Poets Society). Peter talks with host Alfie Faber about working early in his career with legendary sound pro Alan Splet, and then with Richard King on his later films. This is one of the many great interviews available from the Sound Perspective Podcast.

Hello and thanks for this wonderful interview with Peter Weir. I wanted to know how you initially approached Mr. Weir for this interview and at what date the interview initially took place. There are only a few books dedicated to the career of this inspiring director and none that I can locate in French, hence, in the past few months, I have explored and studied his career (and I am still doing so) in the perspective of a short essay. Though I understand the challenge of such task, having the capacity to interview Mr Weir or some of his collaborators as Russell Boyd for instance would definitively be a great opportunity, hence my question.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Sincerely,
Stephane
Hello Stephane – This episode is a re-podcast of the Sound Perspective Podcast based in Australia. We didn’t conduct the interview ourselves. Feel free to reach out to Alfie via that podcast for answers to your questions.
